Where: LIVE on Zoom
Presented By: April Kilduff, MA LCPC, Misty Schmidt, MS, LMFT, Mordecai Browning, LMFT, Melissa Finley, LCPC and Jessica Edwards, LPC
Continuing Education: 1.25 NBCC CEs
This presentation will explore the unique challenges and dynamics in relationships across neurotypes, focusing on neurodivergent and neurotypical couples as well as couples where both partners are neurodivergent but may have different diagnoses. Through an integration of research, therapeutic techniques, and case examples, we will address key areas such as communication, attachment, sensory sensitivities, and emotional regulation. The goal is to empower clinicians with tools to support neurodiverse couples, helping them navigate complex dynamics with an accommodation mindset, fostering connection and understanding.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to identify at least three key communication challenges unique to mixed neurotype relationships and describe strategies to address these challenges in clinical practice.
Participants will demonstrate understanding of sensory and emotional regulation differences in mixed neurotype couples by outlining two interventions that promote emotional connection and regulation.
Participants will evaluate their own biases and misattributions when working with mixed neurotype couples and apply one self-reflection or bias-reduction strategy in their clinical work.
Yes! We record live & email replay access to the recordings a few days after the course.
